Here Comes the Bride
I know it's been over a month since I last blogged but I have been one busy gal! Weddings are by far what cause me to get the most nervous. For most, it's a once in a lifetime milestone and if you miss any of those "big moments" during the ceremony - you've not done a good job. The bride and groom could recreate that "moment" but the expressions and feelings just wouldn't be the same as capturing it for the first time as it truly occured. That is a lot of pressure on a photographer, especially a lone one at that. Luckily, my wedding photography lesson arrived the week before I was to photograph my first wedding and that gave me a little bit more insight as how to go into the session and what to expect.
Looking back now, I laugh at how nervous I was. I literally was at the Church almost 4 hours before the ceremony was to take place. I arrived before the bride and groom arrived. I was so adimant about the lighting, angles, just every little detail that I was going through everything before the wedding even began. Once all the guests were seated and they began playing the bridal march, I was shaking. It also seems that I cannot watch/attend a wedding without getting emotional so I was not only trying to remain calm and confident but I was trying not to cry, too. The bride looked absolutely beautiful and the look on the groom's face when he first saw his bride was priceless. During the ceremony, my goal was to shoot as many photos as I possibly could without being a distraction to the guests. As the guests began to rise and walk out over to the reception hall I had a huge feeling of accomplishment that came over me. I did it, I photographed my first wedding ceremony!
I was so proud of myself and everything after that was a cinch! Now, I've photographed three weddings and have two more coming up in the next two months. To get the feedback from the bride & groom that they love their photos and I did an amazing job puts the biggest smile on my face. I look forward to the upcoming weddings I have scheduled and cannot wait to post more photos from them.
